|** Meet MIKEY at our next East Bay mobile adoption event! Saturday July 15th, 10-2, The Easy Bay Adoptathon at Jack London Square in Oakland**
*Foster Notes* 6/15/17 "Mikey saved a baby deer. We were doing our morning walk when Mikey start
pulling insistently on the leash towards a neighbors post hole fence
project. The neighbor had dug 3 foot deep and 12 inch diameter post holes
for a new fence. So Mikey starts pulling very hard and making noises toward
one of the holes. I thought it was another marking gesture, but this was
even more insistent. So Mikey looks down the hole. Then I look down the
hole and see Bambi, probably less than a day old. Mikey did not try to
bother the fawn. He was happy to be the instigator of the rescue effort. My
wife and I got the baby into a box to keep it calm. Wildcare directed us to
put the baby deer near where it was found, and cover the holes so it can't
get back in. The mother will usually come back to find her baby. About 4
hours later the baby deer was nowhere to be found. The neighbor reported
seeing a mother deer with a baby. What a great dog.
Since Mikey has not found his forever home yet, he got to go on a road trip
with us. He was great in the car. Loved any stop to get out and walk. He
really liked the beach. On a secluded beach, I let go of his leash and he
ran around and around in circles. He was not interested in going in the
water, but loved walking (and running) on the sand."
* FOSTER NOTES * 3/11/17- "Mikey is a happy dog that loves to be included in all activities. He needs
exercise. He also loves to sit on laps or next to someone on the couch and
be pet. We have been working on teaching Mikey not to play using his mouth,
but even when he does he is gentle and not at all aggressive. He will chase
after moving things, but is obedient on leash around our chickens. He has
been fine even off leash being with our older cat that does not run. He is
crate trained and potty trained."
*Return Notes* 2/5/17 "Mikey is a sweet dog. He is potty trained, crate trained, and walks very well on a leash. He would do well in a no dog, no cat, and no small child home."
Mikey is a BC/terrier mix whose genetics have made him an intelligent, athletic "fun-sized" ranch dog. Upbeat, alert, and ready for anything, this little man is ready to take on the world (or at the very least, the backyard). Loyal, affectionate, and loving, Mikey would thrive in a family setting in a large house that is conducive to his needs for mental and physical stimulation.
