|*Foster Notes* 12/22/17 "Chase is, by every definition of the word, a GREAT dog! He is playful, trainable, happy, and eager to please. He is already potty trained and crate trained, and is a quick learner with new commands and expectations.
He lived great with our other dog; he loved playing with her and with toys.
Chase should be in a home with a dog who has an equally high energy level
for him to play with and a backyard. With 2 trips to the dog park a day and
playtime in the house until our other dog tired out, Chase still had energy
to spare. Chase is an absolutely beautiful (and super soft) dog, and we
know he will make the perfect addition to the right family."
Chase is a handsome, active boy, a wonderful happy-go-lucky dog, but his youthful puppy energy, our lack of experience, and our schedules aren’t right for us or fair for him and it is taking a toll on my wife’s health.
Our belief is the new owners would be someone or a family who has dogs and experience with playful high-energy breeds. Someone with land, even a huge backyard and most importantly the time to interact and provide activity and stimulation daily.
Chase is neutered, crate trained, only about 40lbs and not likely to get bigger. He knows his commands well, words and hand gestures such as…heel, sit, stay, down, shake, park, walk and treat. Chase will follow directions, except when overly stimulated (cats) or hasn’t had the opportunity to expend some of that abundant puppy energy.
His challenges, such as leash pulling (though a handful of treats seems to keep him near), and counter surfing are likely because of our lack of experience. He is great with other dogs, big and small, loves to play and can be submissive. Completely non-aggressive to people, but loves to take off after cats.
Chase is not an incessant barking dog thankfully, and he doesn’t go after shoes inside the house, although you do have to mind your socks and paper towels. He will swallow socks and paper towels whole like a snake with a mouse. Oh, he is a bolter out the door, if not careful, so we suggest a home with older kids to avoid escapes. Also more work on recall perhaps....
More soon on this charismatic fellow. $450 adoption fee.
