LONG-TERM FOSTERING
Taking an animal into your home for a month or more can give them the transition period they need to get "adoption ready." Long-term fostering is possible both in the
San Francisco Bay Area, particularly in the East Bay and in Marin County, as well as in
Mendocino County. Foster homes are needed for under aged puppies and
kittens, adolescent pups in need of house training and one-on-one time,
as well as adult dogs of many kinds. Senior cats benefit greatly from
longer term fostering in a warm, loving environment. By providing a
secure haven and extra nurturing, training, or care, you are increasing
our ability to help other animals, and increasing your foster pet's
chances of finding the right new home. This is also a great opportunity to show pets who don't do well in busy, noisy adoption events!
To be a SHORT-TERM FOSTER PARENT
means that you are willing to pick up animal(s) at the end of an
adoption days and take them home overnight and/or for a few days. After an evening or two or three of love and
attention and more room to romp, you transport the critter(s) back to Milo for another chance at adoption. Longer term fostering, even for just a week, is very much NEEDED, especially for animals who are recovering from spay/neuter surgeries and/or are under the weather!!
