PEACHES *FOSTER UPDATE* 3/5/17- "So far she's doing really well. She is a true sweetheart and has adjusted very well to our home. We've been working hard on training and she's become very good at walking on leash and is improving consistently on her other commands (primarily "sit", "stay" and "leave it"). She's had an accident or two in the house, but those were primarily in the first couple days and with a regular schedule she has no problem with house training. Peaches shows lots of affection (snuggling and licking if we let her) and is very eager to please. She also has been great with strangers we meet, allowing everyone to say hello and pet her.

The one area she has a lot of room for improvement is her socialization with other dogs. We're trying to help by exposing her to other dogs at a distance and rewarding her when her tenseness subsides, but it may take some time before she's comfortable saying hello to other dogs as we pass in the street.

We think she'd be a great pet for someone, particularly a family that has a yard where she can roam a bit without other dogs around, though hopefully we'll get to a point soon when she can handle the dog park as well."

Peaches is a friendly, quiet girl. She can be shy at first but loves people attention and gives kisses and tries to sit in laps. She is very dog friendly and can use some training. Will know more soon. Due to the shape of her head we think she is actually part Pitty - whatever all her make-up she is a sweetheart of a dog!

Featured Critter: JIMMY

Breed: Chihuahua Mix  -  Gender: Male  -  Age: 8 yrs. 4 mo. (est)  -  Milo ID: 24619

STRAY CHI 4TH ST UPDATE: Jimmy was neutered, had three teeth pulled, and had the rest cleaned. Thank you everyone who donated to this wonderful little man. Jimmy is now ready for his forever home.

Jimmy is a super-star senior! This poor guy was found running stray, in Richmond, after one of our big winter storms. Skin and bones, hair falling out, with horribly sunburned ears, it was obvious that this fine, little fellow was an outdoor dog. He went to the shelter - where nobody claimed him - and his time was running out. Milo intervened, but like the rest of his body, his teeth have been neglected. We would appreciate donations to help this sweet guy start his second lease on life.

*Foster Notes* 4/27/17 "Jimmy is a sweet and gentle dog. He was great with my terrier mix and did fine meeting new dogs and people at Berkeley Marina and Pt. Isabel. I don't think he's had any training, but he's a quick study. He does need help to learn to stop marking in the house (now that he is neutered, it might stop). He warmed up quickly and loves to snuggle and sit on laps. He sleeps through the night, naps in his crate and loves playing with stuffed animals. I adore the little guy and hope he finally finds the loving home he so deserves."
