Meet MIKA at Milo Point Richmond.
Mika is a sweet young, long legged, larger, Border Collie mix. She is long and thin--maybe has some Greyhound in her? She is mostly good with other dogs though sometimes on leash she gets a bit overwhelmed - but she is adapting. She is smart. Mika loves to play chase and to wrestle. She is also good with cats, and very gentle with children.
Mika is a very active girl, who loves to hike, and would probably be a great running partner. She walks well on a leash, looking up to you for direction.
She needs a home that has the time and energy for an active dog. Or a job would be even better! She has some typical Border Collie obsessive behavior issues, but these can be managed, with training and plenty of exercise. She is very smart and eager to please, and she picks up commands quickly.
MIKA was recently adopted from a crowded, high kill shelter. The adopter has two dogs and two young children, and this was not the right home for Mika. She did NOT want to take her back to the shelter, so asked Milo for help. "She eats fine with the other dogs, walks very well on the leash, already knows her name (Mika) and comes when called. She is food motivated. She is very attentive and attached. She doesn't chase the cat, although she fixates on her. She is great with the kids, very gentle. She needs a calmer home, with someone who can be with her most of the time, at least to start. I can't keep her until that time, since the the other dogs are starting to reject her."
