Petite JACKETTE is at Milo Pt. Richmond!! Come meet this great dog!
Bio from time at the Sanctuary:Jackette is a fantastic girl and we are actually quite surprised that she is still here with us! She is a cuddly, attentive, highly bonding and intelligent little dog. She is good with other dogs and children. She has never shown a bit of aggression towards any person and is not a yappy dog. She is crate and potty pad trained, but may need some more work on house training if she were to be suddenly left in the home alone for extended periods of time without access to a secure yard, or left in a large crate with a chew toy. She is smart and eager to please so with the clear, consistent and fair rules, taught with positive reinforcement, she would be a wonderful student. She seems to have missed out on some routine training as a pup, so needs a bit of help fine tuning house manners, ie snacking on food left where she can reach. She is good at getting through holes in fences etc to come and find you, so a secure yard is a must if leaving her alone.
She is curled up taking a nap in my lap as I write this because she didn't want to be alone in her yard. She somehow wiggled though her fencing and walked across the property to the office, where she politely scratched at the door. I opened it, she jumped in my lap, gave me a kiss and curled up for a nap. She will happily follow me around the property off leash, sticking right by my side and listens well if she gets distracted by barking etc. We would prefer a home without cats. All in all this is a wonderful and beautiful girl and the family who adopts her will luck out with a wonderful and devoted companion. Please send interest to firstname.lastname@example.org
Latest update from foster mom 12/6/13: Little Jackie was born to be your best friend. She loves all people big and small. This is not a nippy little dog at all. She weighs in around 9 pounds and is perfectly portable. She is mostly house trained meaning that she does not have accidents in my home or office, but has to be watched in a new location until she understands where to go. She is perfect at work with me and will curl up on any available lap or dog bed. She loves car rides. She's a silly goofy entertaining terrier type. I find her pretty mellow for a terrier as she will sleep with you in bed all day if that's your thing.
I thought she was a bit of an older girl because she had pretty bad teeth, but since having her on a raw diet, her teeth are looking great.
She is crate trained, but can be trusted out around the house usually. Sometimes she will rummage through a trash can.
She's been fine with all the many dogs I have had her around. She's a bossy pants, but she's all talk.
She would make a fabulous apartment dog and traveling companion. She's been fine with my cat who is quite dog savy. My friend watched her and she barked at her cat, but when the kitty swatted her she backed down. So I think it depends on the cat
