JASPAR has healed up from an attack by wildlife at the sanctuary, and a bad injury to one of his legs-he is fine now. He is smart, attentive, loyal, and active boy! He would do best with cattle dog savvy people, activity, and a lap if he can get one!!! Jaspar came to us from Eureka via Fort Bragg - he had been left with his buddy "Sarge" at a home in Eureka when their people moved out. Both are intelligent and affectionate dogs - Jaspar is the more typical cattle dog, demanding and persistent, responsive and reactive - smart and agile - top dog kind of guy. Jaspar can be mouthy and jumpy, so he would do best in a home with older kids, or just adults. Due to his prey instincts, he would be best without cats, or other small animals. He does seem to do well with most other dogs, but can be dominant. Jaspar easily backs off when reminded of his place by another dog or person. He will flourish under training and persistence and be an excellent jogging partner, hiking buddy, or beach companion.

Targa is a sweet older lady who would prefer a low key home, preferably in a rural setting as she has spent most of her life here at the sanctuary, and the real world may be a bit much for her. She gets along very well with the male dog that she lives with, but I have been told that she does not get along well with female dogs. Here, she is outwardly gentle and friendly to everyone , including strangers. Targa wandered onto the property many years ago as a pregnant stray and has been with us since. She is content here, but we would be open to placing her in a home for retirement, but with the understanding that she would not be an all around town dog park type of gal. This little lady is the sibling of Sistah and Brody. All three were adopted out, (Roxy by another shelter) and was just recently returned to them so we agreed to take her as well. She does already have serious interest, but we will still take applications just in case. We are smitten with this whole family! Roxy is outgoing, gentle, gets along well with other dogs and would love a family with the time, love and the continued training that all pups need and deserve.

Boo-Boo and Mimi are a cute as a button little duo who are a bit nervous in their new surroundings but are not at all snappy or aggressive. They are very nice little dogs who are very loving toward each other and seem to be house trained. More info soon as we get to know them better.

Franklin is a sweet male terrier mix—possibly Schnauzer/Poodle. He weighs approximately 20 lbs. and is about 5 years old. He was adopted from a Florida animal shelter as a stray dog in 2010. Since then, we’ve done a lot of obedience training on leash. Franklin is a cuddly lapdog, but he also loves to play and can run like the wind! He’s very social/friendly with other dogs and he loves to chase cats. Franklin is great with older children, but is nervous with new people, especially men and small children.
