I'd like to volunteer. Where do I start?

Complete our Volunteer Application and we’ll follow-up within 2 weeks to schedule your Volunteer Orientation. Our Dog Walking Training is an additional session, which will be discussed and scheduled at the initial orientation.

What are the age requirements for a volunteer?

Cat volunteers may begin at 12 years of age, and must train and volunteer with a parent or guardian. Dog volunteers may begin at 16 years of age, and if under 18 must have signed parental permission to volunteer.

Where are volunteer orientations held?

Volunteer orientations are held at our Milo Point Richmond location:

Milo Point Richmond
220 S Garrard Blvd
Point Richmond, CA 94801

Fostering a Dog or Cat

Can I foster-to-adopt a dog or cat?

Milo does not foster-to-adopt. Instead we have built into our Adoption Contract a 10 window by which, if you and the animal are not able to make it work, you may return them to us. *NOTE: There are NO refunds for puppies or kittens (less than 1 year old). If the animal returned is an adult, you may receive a refund (less a $50 re-intake fee) or a credit (less a $50 re-intake fee) toward the adoption of an animal that may be more suitable for your situation.

Who covers the cost of animal care when I foster a dog or cat?

Milo covers the cost of veterinary care while you are fostering a dog or cat. Most of our fosters cover the cost of pet food but Milo can provide food if needed.
