Sweet, mellow, big girl here at the Milo Sanctuary along with her pal Melo, a Great Pyr. We hope to place these two together, but will consider separating if the right home but they get very depressed when separated, and having spent more time around them it does not seem in their best interest to be separated, they get depressed, bark, howl.....

They are not good around small livestock like goats or sheep - they are used to Alpacas and horses. Melo is not used to leash walking, Diamond is the Alpha of the pair, both are calm and very dog friendly, and Diamond is very food motivated and is an absolute love.

$750 adoption fee for the pair

Miracle is a beautiful and very friendly cow off a ranch in Lake County. She was a favorite of the family, she had been bottle raised and it was a "miracle" that she lived, thus her name and we welcome her and her pals Freddy the cow, Sherman the sheep and Blanca the Great Pyr who loves them all!

We are looking to place Miracle with Blanca! You couldn’t ask for more on a family farm!!

   Name: DYLAN

   Breed: Shepherd Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 1 yr. 4 mo.  Birthday: 1/2019 (est)
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 30216
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Status: On Hold or Not Available at this time
Foster Feedback: “Dylan has learned A LOT in just a few days here, like that wake up time is not 5:30am, nor 7:30, but closer to 8:30 or 9. He’s learned “down”, a little bit of “wait”, some “come here”. Thankfully, he learned the difference between toys and shoes pretty quickly, and seems to even understand the word “toy”. He’s been to the beach twice, and loves snapping at the waves!

He still has a lot of important lessons to learn about personal space, controlling his excitement, and not pulling so much on leash, but getting plenty of exercise helps him stay calmer and more focused." Take a look at his really great photos!

Dylan is a sweet boy who needs an active household with one or two adults. He is so loving and friendly in the home, and LOVES playing, (young kids are not a good fit). He needs lots of exercise and someone who understands he needs boundaries and training.

He would benefit as would his adopter by attending some basic training classes. Ongoing play and socialization is important as he is an adult but needs more training on his lingering puppy behavior. Since he has some wild energy, he would do well with an active person and a buddy dog perhaps!

Dylan has been to a 2 week training for manners/ re-activeness while walking on leash where he has shown improvement but he will need a consistent leader to keep up the training, and with good amounts of exercise he will be much easier to train!

Dylan needs a home in either a quiet suburb or a rural environment as he gets anxious when encountering lots of people, bikers, etc. on walks. His approach to other dogs can be forward but with the proper introduction it will be a smoother process.

He loves bones, and knuckles, and durable toys. He enjoys riding in a car and will put his head out to enjoy the fresh air and smells. Dylan loves attention and play time and will not tire quickly.

Anyone training for a marathon?!?!

$400 adoption fee for this enthusiastic, but slightly nervous boy.

Adult dogs have a ten day built in foster/get acquainted period built in with adoption.

   Name: AMOS
More Photos
   Breed: Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 8 yrs. 8 mo.  Birthday: 9/2011 (est)
   Weight: Large (60 - 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29831
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Amos is a very sweet laid back fellow. He loves to lay at your feet and will let you know when he wants more pets with a cute little whimper. He loves to pick up scraps off the kitchen floor, and will never say no to a biscuit. Amos would do well in a cat free environment. He has high prey drive and doesn't like anything small that darts around super fast. We seem to believe that poor Amos must have broken his leg or been crated non stop as a puppy (?) in the past and now its quite bent. Due to this Amos does have some arthritis and is on supplements to help ease the pain. He also has a mole under his right eye.

Amos is big and bent but he gets around! He loves food, but loves attention even more. He is a loyal and loving companion.

   Name: OTTO
More Photos
Breed: Anatolian Shepherd - Great Pyrenees Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 3 yrs. 5 mo.  Birthday: 12/2016 (est)
   Weight: Extra-Large (over 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29596
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
A wonderful Milo adopter has generously donated half of Otto's adoption fee! His fee is now $250.

Otto is a big beauty of a boy. He is the classic big guardian breed, willing and compliant, stoic, serious and will guard you. He will greet you with tail wagging in his quietly jolly way. Guardian dogs are nocturnal, and tend to stay up at night and bark. It's their job to guard the sheep while the shepherd is sleeping.

No other small dogs in the home. We can dog test w/ your large dog if you bring them with you.

Otto is very sweet and mellow. He loves getting pets and attention. He is also intelligent and trainable, so he knows a few commands like sit, down, back up and even knows to "speak". He is still working on his leash manners. Otto sometimes will show leash aggression which only occurs during walks and with only some dogs. He will also bond with his person and this will bring out his guardian background. These behaviors can be corrected but he will need a dog savvy and committed person to reinforce good behavior. The nocturnal and guarding nature are typical of the breed and should be expected.

Otto needs a quiet home and would prefer to live with just one person and/or another dog his size, but no children and no small dogs. Otto needs a good size piece of land to roam and guard, with few cars going by. He's nocturnal (stays awake at night) and will bark. **His new person must be guardian dog savvy and have the time/patience it takes to continue his training.**

A wonderful Milo adopter has generously donated half of Otto's adoption fee! His fee is now $250.

   Name: LADY JANE

   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29504
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
O Lady Jane! This beautiful girl is so deserving of a loving home. She is sweet and friendly but very nervous and insecure out in the world. She came in with her mom Ingrid, but her mom was adopted and now it's her turn! She can spook easily although she walks well on leash once she is comfortable with you. Lady Jane will be able to blossom in a calm, patient and kid-free house hold. She would do best in a rural or suburban setting with plenty of room to run around and perhaps a mentor dog. She is very intelligent--she can open doors--and needs training and further socialization. She will be a perfect companion for someone who can be home a lot of the time, and give her the nurturing she needs. Come meet her and fall in love today at Milo Point Richmond.... she needs a special home devoted to helping her get settled in the world!

   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Queen is a beautiful yet timid young cat that was brought out to our Sanctuary with her kittens. She's very affectionate once she gets to know you. Queen was used to being a mostly outdoor cat, "she loves to explore and after a long day of doing so will come lay on your lap for some well deserved pets."

   Name: BUBBA

   Breed: Pomeranian Mix
   Gender: Male

Weight: Small (less than 30 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29316
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Bubba has headed up to the Milo Sanctuary. He has "Psycholigical differeneces" - if crated, in a vehicle or other situations he becomes a snarling crazy man, once out he is his smiling self, sitting back on his haunches and offering his paw.... walking and wagging tail.

Bubba is available for SPONSORSHIP, sweet conflicted fellow.

   Name: CALY aka CALYPSO
Breed: German Shepherd Dog - Rottweiler Mix
   Gender: Female
   Age: 3 yrs. 6 mo.  Birthday: 11/2016
   Weight: Large (60 - 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29035
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Adorable, sweet, spunky Calypso (Caly) is a highly intelligent and sensitive2-year-old German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix. She has so much love and affection to give to the people she trusts and bonds with. For Caly, an ideal home would be a single family detached house with a large yard, another dog friend (or friends!) to play with, and a confident, experienced dog owner. Ideally, she would have lots of opportunities for playtime and mental stimulation, as she’s a busy, brilliant girl. She feels most comfortable with adults, and likely wouldn’t do well in a home with children, as she’s shown some uncertainty around them. Caly has her basic obedience down, is housebroken, spayed, fully up-to-date with her vaccinations, and is a trainable, quick learner. She also loves belly rubs and car rides!

Caly does amazingly well with other dogs and quickly makes new canine friends. She feels a great deal of comfort, security, and calm when sharing a home with them, as she’s grown up with adult dogs around to mentor her. She would thrive with another dog or two she could bond with in her new family. Caly also gets along well with kitty friends! She maintains a playful sense of curiosity around cats, and will even engage in gentle play if they approach her wanting to do so. Sometimes, Caly will feel the need to protect her favorite toys and food from other dogs and, rarely, people. She’ll audibly mumble and grumble, but ultimately understands that doing so isn’t necessary.

As Caly has grown older, she’s unfortunately become wary of new people and strangers. She can show some fearful reactivity around strangers on walks or with new people who come into the home. At times, she’ll bark, growl or show ‘air-mouthiness’ to express that she’s uncomfortable and needs more space. It can take time for Caly to build trust. However, if Caly’s got another dog friend by her side when new people come into the home, she actually improves behaviorally. Her canine companion(s) help her to see that new people aren’t as scary as she may think they are.

Once Caly knows and trusts you, she will be attached to you for life. Caly provides a type of love that isunconditional and wholehearted. Her personality is endearingly quirky, and she wants nothing more than to sharethe kindness, warmth, and tenderness she has so much of with you. She deserves a fantastic home, a fantasticperson (or people!), and a fantastic new dog friend to live with that can give her all the love, attention, space, andstructure she deserves.
